correct me if I'm wrong... but isn't this WWDC really going to Promot 'Leopard'. Which would invlove promoting the new features of Leopard?
What's the point of promoting features of Tiger.
I do think it's real. Like everyone though, I looked to identify all the icons, to see if I caught something new. Boot Camp is basically one of the biggest features that we know will be in Leopard, and basied solely off This poster... nothing mentioned about Boot Camp. I just found that interesting.

Time for the headaches.
I feel sorry for you. :( No one I know suffered from headaches from watching 3D movies.
Having said that, I feel hesitant about this... I haven't been impressed especially by the sharpness that fake 3D can offer. Impression of depth is good enough for me, but the sharpness really sucks. 3D so far completely counters everything that we have worked for to get to HD movies in one blow. It's funny how modern 3D TV's have got to 1080p and all, and then backpedals from all that with blurry 3D movies.

Oh come on! :D Heee.... I was thinking the 1080i/p resolution might be a hint of what's to come on the 12th :)
Yeah, it definitely would be a great machine to watch HD movies on from the new iTMS Movie Store. And after that, combined with Leopard's as-yet-unannounced super-secret built-in Media Center technology, the next iMac revision will see 30" displays with built-in TV tuners, HDMI, etc. :D
It's showtime!!!

An "Image Sensor" is not a camera. The sensor is part of a camera. In addition to a sensor one needs to add at least a lens, some buffer memory and a controller. Sony makes image sensors for many, other camera makers.
8MP is way to many pixels for a cell phone camera. The only reason to have so many is for marketing purposes because consumers seem to think (wrongly) that more is better. What really limits sharpness of a cell phone camera is the physical size of the lens. If the lens projects a blurred image onto the focal plane the best sensors will simply make a very good recording of the blurred image.
Correct. An 8M image sensor for cameraphones is retarded because it is beyond the resolving power of the lens itself. It's just generating big images of digital noise; no extra information is being captured.
Really a 3-5 megapixel sensor is really the resolution limit based on the optics. What manufacturers should concentrate on is low-light performance.
This also helps video recording since those frames are basically taken around 1/60 of a second shutter speeds. For still shots, you can have longer exposures but you don't have that luxury when shooting video.

//edit// re: That Cool Surfing Shot (srf4real)
what lens are you using for these? pretty damn sharp and I assume your a fair distance from the shore!
Here is the EXIF data from the photo.
EXIF Summary: 1/3000s f/4.0 ISO160 200mm (35mm eq:401mm)
Camera-Specific Properties:
Equipment Make: OLYMPUS IMAGING CORP.
Camera Model: E-5
Edit: They make some nice lenses for that camera. Nice to see something that didn't turn out to be Nikon of Canon.

Heh, my roommate tells me he's got a family friend where the husband and wife have figured out a good compromise (only works if both sides are actually decent with money ;) ).
If either buys an expensive purchase, the other side gets to also buy something of equivalent value. Apparently it keeps them in check about overspending cause they realize it will cost their household twice the amount of money and it stays fair cause both sides get to enjoy a purchase of their own.
My wife and I have a similar arrangement. I can have something expensive for my birthday. She can have her expensive curtains or sofa..etc. It works great and it is fair for the two of us. I got Adobe Photoshop Cs5, Audition and Lightroom and a Technet membership. She got cloths and a very expensive coat. I still don't know what to get for my next birthday.

...finally...
Apple has dropped the ball here. Now that most laptops ship with the same chips, Apple can't claim the "Mhz Myth" or anything like that. They will have to keep up to speed, no pun intended.
dude, the operating system is better. it isnt just the cpu.

What has been asked for and what we are providing is a no fly zone, which seems like the appropriate amount of military intervention.
[confused]
The US is enforcing a no-fly zone over The Republic of Congo? Or were you just dodging the question?

I think Mac sales are directly tied to the Halo affect of the iOS devices. The more they sell there, the more people open up to Mac as an alternative. With Lion having more iOS like interfaces, it will make it even more natural for new customers.
IMO it's a combination of many things.
Yes, the idevices, but then comes word of mouth. Nothing is more powerful than when you have a friend or colleague who shows you how easily everything works and integrates.
The learning curve of a Mac is also not steep.
Overall I think the market for non professional users will shift away from desktop machines as the "books" become more and more powerful.
Plus their new advertising slogan
All you need is a Mac and you'll never go back!

Look, dont get me wrong. I believe that as soon as apple and motorola say ta-ta to each other for the mac's CPU then we may have a decent processor under the hood. Look, whilst ironic that the very chip we want comes from a copmany at the complete opposite end of the market, a power4 even cut down at 2Ghz or 2.5Ghz may get apple upto maybe 10-15% of the market share. That is important because then we would become a sizable group. Worth seriously developing for maybe???
Most of the oldest apple allys dont take apple seriously anymore and they just pump out aps that are compatible to stop the email flood that would occur if they didnt.

That thread is full of some of the most comical and short sighted statements you'll ever see. Good thing Steve Jobs obviously knew what he was doing a lot more than the forum posters of the time did. That's why I laugh at some of the more critical comments you see on some of the threads today as well. In 10 years they'll look just as comical and short sighted as those do I'm sure.

Until Adobe can get FLASH working properly on Macs, why the hell would I want it on my damn phone?
On Macs, FLASH causes Safari 4 to crash often, is slow and downright buggy.
Some sites work fine, others crash the browser, often a reboot is required to get a Flash site working after a crash. This is all completely unacceptable in my opinion.
If your teenager crashed one of your cars, why the hell would you immediately give him the keys to another one?
When Adobe fixes FLASH for Macs, then and ONLY THEN should Apple say, hey let's talk about the iPhone now.
Those should be Apple's terms, plain and simple.

Probably the real story is that somebody at Apple thought it would make a great story IF it happened. And, like the proverbial telephone game, it snowballed into people hearing it as if it happened, including the source "close to Apple".
Still, a heart-warming tale. The funniest comment, though, was this by Iceman
"My Wife Said: YES, But Apple Said: NO
She said Yes since day one, but every time I call Apple asking if they have any, they reply: NO!
Insane, isn't it??"
Now, that's the real story!

Ok, but they are only utilizing Moscone West. Why not rent West and North, South or all three.
Moscone North and South were already reserved for trade shows much bigger than WWDC more than a year in advance. It's all about the total number of attendees, and these big trade shows bring in an order of magnitude more people spending money in SF than either WWDC or Google IO.
Never mind. Those big trade shows are two weeks before and after WWDC.
