The nicest and most powerful desktop on the planet...where is my credit card? And it's not even 12 September YET!!!
Is there any Winblows fanboy still out there to justify the purchase of a damn PC? I don't think so...

Nothing nearly as amazing as some of the pictures in the thread, but it's what I have. First attempt at HDR.

Gah!! This gapless playback thing is annoying me. I upgraded as soon as the keynote finished and it's still analysing my library (37825 songs). What's it even for?!

So do you have to be connected to an unknown network (like in a coffee shop or bookstore) for this to work? Or do you just have to be connected to the internet via wireless?
I'm actually not in the city, so I don't have anyone around me that would be close enough to connect. Could it still work though?
Does anyone know the answer to this?

Dogmatic belief in the nonexistence of God can be considered a religion.
Agnostic atheism cannot though.
No.
Atheism isn't a religion, why would there need to be a book? Seems silly to me.

As happy and excited I am about this update, I can't stop feeling a little irritated about the amount of time it has taken for it to come out.
It is 3 years since I first almost bankrupted myself by buying an octo-core machine. And I bought it based on all the rhetoric Apple spewed. Since then the only thing I seem to own that actually utilizes all that power is bleedin' Handbrake, an open source application.
Don't get me wrong, watching Handbrake crunch HD video at 120 FPS is a thing of wonder, but using FCP and having 7 of 8 cores sat there idly doing nothing has profoundly bothered me.
I guess it is my own fault for being such an early adopter and being so utterly addicted to Apple's marketing hype.
PS., Please god, don't let this new Final Cut be anything like the first iteration of Aperture 3. One of my worst software nightmares ever.

I say new Nanos and iMacs, but hopefully with new enclosures (more scratch resistant iPod, iMac with less chin). Mac Mini might get a speed bump or price drop at the same time.
But the iMac getting Merom before the Macbook Pro... It would make sense updating the two at the same time. I'd love to see the MBP get an enclosure similar to the Macbook. Make them covered with black Vinyl like the Macbooks. Everyone can then choose whether they want to peel the Vinyl off to have the bare metal or not.

London is not representative of the rest of the UK at all. It skews almost every figure released that is related to population. I've never seen anyone with a gun, I don't know anyone with a gun and I doubt I ever will.
This is always going to be the case when a single city has over 12% of the country's population.
Exactly. You're more likely to know someone with a gun if you live in the countryside anyway. The only people I saw holding guns in London were two Police Officers on the beat around Waterloo Station when I used to walk to work from Waterloo to Piccadilly Circus and outside the US Embassy when I went for my visa interview last month. Oh, also one of my dad's ex coworkers had a gun, but he was in an armed response unit in the police, so I guess that doesn't really count.

Well I think the phrase significantly improved is a opinion.
Whether OSX been improved "significantly" or not (I notice you fail to offer an opinion of your own), any improvement is better than none, which is precisely how much improvement Windows users have been granted by Microsoft over the last five years. Again, we're being led to be believe that this is somehow a superior state of affairs. I don't know who buys this argument, but I sure as hell don't.

iLounge has a "First Look" article with photos of all models and accessories. They say that the new nanos have the Search and Smart Scroll feature of the new 5G iPod. Hopefully we with the plastic nanos won't miss out on that. I'm expecting an iPod Updater soon.
Sadly I don't think the 1G nanos will get them. Remember when the video and nano came out, with the stopclock, security lock, etc? The previous iPods didn't get an update :(.

Wow.
Wow.
iTunes 7 fixes all of the idiotic interface inconsistencies and missing functionality.
Great additions to the interface. Good balance of usability and fun.
This is a fantastic update. One of the best application updates Apple has done in a long time.
Very clean overall.
Great job Apple. Simply great.

They make all of Nikons sensors, even the high end D3S and D3X dSLRs ones. They also made (or make?) Canon point and shoot sensors; at least as of a few years ago. Sony was one of the first with backlit CMOS as well.
Oh, and I think Pentax, if you want to consider them a camera compay, uses Sony sensors.
Aw man I definitely can't wait now! We're in April so not too long for WWDC to see the preview or whatever.
I hope they have a new notification system going, yet I feel if so, they'll wait until the official announcement (in the fall) to unleash that. Either way I'm extremely excited and hoping for a true revolution (I'll settle for evolution if iOS 5 is amazing) with the iPhone 5!

Ouch.
I get 36 hours on my Droid X without any issues...
If youre getting 36 hours youre barely using it for anything more than texting/calls/web browsing etc.
Youre definitely not getting 36 hours without charging playing games/streaming music etc. on top of texting/calls/web browsing. the iPhone too gets 36 hours if you use it like you do.

I am seriously thinking of getting out of Windowsworld and the new 24" iMac looks great!:D
From the listed specs this will really rock.
Anybody have advice on whether I should wait for Leopard to come out or not?
Since Core 2 Duo is 64-bit, there's really no reason to wait if you need/really want a new computer right now.

After upgrade things are better and quieter. I always have my activity monitor running and it is always showing allot of CPU activity and my fans are/were always running on full blast. After the update CPU activity seems much lower. The fans, when they do come on, slowly and quietly spool up. And I don't have a temp monitor, but my lap said that it is running cooler. I don't know if I am crazy or not. Is anyone else noticing better processor performance? I say great fix Apple.
And in the update process Apple does say that even those that even those macbooks that were sent in for repairs (heat sink, MB, etc) need to do the update. My guess is that at the time you had your book repaired, Apple didn't know the real problem, so they threw in some logic boards and some heat sinks in the hope that would fix the issues. Just my thought.

whether or not they did this. although with how hard the pressure all of their suppliers, i would NOT believe that they didnt exert some form of pressure on the movie studios
