I used to fold with Macrumors a few years ago, as I remember it we had a pretty powerful team, seems now things are waning, and this board has cooled off. I suppose I'm guilty of leaving as well (jumped ship for Penny Arcade, great comic BTW), am I just glossing over old memories or have things actually slowed down?

Apple has had a phenomenal run. They are doing this on all fronts. They have 2 Billion CASH! That is a big deal. It keeps the R&D funded.
Actually they have over $6 billion in cash and another almost $4 billion in liquid, short term investments...so they really have $10 billion in cash, up from just over $8 billion a year ago.

Exactly - when I got my iphone 4 I couldn't believe how smooth/fluid it all was. I just wasn't used to it having only used windoze products where stuttering and lag is quite common.
Up to version 4.2.1 the iphone 4 was very smooth, with 4.3.x some of that feel has been lost.
Same thing happened on iPad going from os 3 to os 4.
The smooth feel was lost forever.

yes its true for running things like parallels, Boot Camp however is just fine with all editions of Vista, afaik

well it's kinda weird - ip4 is fast enought to have NO animation problems. This started exacly the same as 3G problems on iOS3.x.
In a few months we all know that ip4 is too slow, too old and we would need to switch to ip5 :/

iX... At first you could think about the Roman Number 9. But as you all know, in the upper part of X, you can also find the Roman number V. So that makes 14 then. (IX + V)
Now, the iMac shipped in 1998, while now it's 2011. 13 years of difference. Almost fourteen. Coincidence? I think not. Maybe that's a hint from Apple?
Then you got Mac, with a capital M, and a lowercase a and c. In M you can find I, V, and I, which together make (IV + I) 5. In a you can find c and I, which totals in 11 (C+I). Then you got the c, which of course, just translates in 10.
5 + 11 + 10 equals 26. As much as all letters in the Roman (aka Latin) alphabet.
Which leads us to believe that we have not to count the Roman numbers, but just the Roman letters.
M is the 13th letter of the alphabet.
A is the first letter of the alphabet.
C is the 3rd letter of the alphabet.
TOTAL: 17.
Now we all know Apple's marketing. And you know that's a hint from the name in the title: MarketingName. Big words mean more to Apple than big numbers. Sounds cool to me. I guess all those people worried about fungerprints on the potencially touch screen iPod are psyched about this. So it is a touchscrenn you don't actually touch? This could really work out if done right. I wonder if you can still control your iPod in your pocked without having to look at it though... the iPod remote will come in handy if not :)

add to that AAC is not exactly a free. It has licencing cost to it. Mp3 is complete free and open.

I know there's a "don't prompt me next time" box that pops up in the itunes settings on OS X.
On my iPhone it seems I always have to enter my password for every download - there has to be a setting for that somewhere.
Me too. Appstore ask me to enter my pw every time I purchase something from my iPhone or my iPod Touch (even if it's a free app).

just confirmed with Apple...hopefully they'll remove that.
Anyway, looking forward to the spec bumps for the Mini, the Air and the Pro.
And really hope that everyone's iMacs will behave and be okay this time around.

Jesus, not keen on the cartoon look. The animations and fluidness - yes, more please. Cartoon-like interface - no thanks.
Why don't they make all the UI the SAME?! They seem to like having every app a little different. Different Toolbar/right click on dock/window's surrounds/window manipulation. Just make everything the damn same please.
