I am starting this thread for the people who are Greencard Holders and not married. Please share some thoughts for bringing their spouse here.
IV can help in this matter.
If all visa holders and citizens can bring their spouse instantly then why GC holder have to wait for many years after getting GC after many years.

I have heard in the past from core team and other senior members that
we have to bank on CIR for now, and if it is dead SKIL etc become an option.
The one problem with this might be "how and when would we know CIR is dead, and would it be too late to push for SKIL at that point?".
I understand this is a highly speculative question, but am hoping someone from core can articulate what our game plan regarding contingencies are.
(If this is something you can't answer on the webpage, I can understand the reasons for keeping the gameplan under wraps from our adversaries).

I'm on H1b visa in my 6th year. Perm application has been filed and I hope to get it approved soon along with approved i-140 (fingers crossed).
From what I have read on this forum so far, H1b transfer to a new job after an approved I-140 seems to be possible even after 6 years on H1. My issue is that I currently work for a university (non-quota H1) so if I get a new job most likely it will be with a for profit company which would require me to get a new H1 (and not H1 transfer).
So, the question is whether it is possible to get a new H1 after 6 years on H1?

Really disappointing. Senator Schumer says on the one hand that the targeted companies are not violating the law and on the other says they are underpaying their workers - which would be a violation of the law. Which is it? And he disparages the entire staffing industry - an industry that in the US employs far more American citizens than immigrants - by questioning the legitimacy of the business model and complaining that these companies don't make anything. Out of the 65,000 cases that can be approved for H-1B this year, 37,400 cases have been receipted by USCIS for the regular Bachelor's degree H-1B quota. This is up from 36,600 cases which were received since September 3, 2010.
Approximately 13,700 cases have been receipted by USCIS for the advanced degree H-1B quota, a slight increase of about 300 cases filed since September 3, 2010 when approximately 13,400 cases had been received.
October 1, 2010 is around the corner. People with newly approved H-1Bs will soon be able to begin employment. First time applicants can still continue to submit applications for H-1B status until the entire H-1B quota is exhausted. I'll keep you updated on the cap count, so check back soon. ---ecf

I am waiting for the approval of my I-131. Can I fax a request to approve/speedup the process? If I can send the fax, can someone pass the fax number?
Background:
I applied for I-131 online in May, 2008 at TEXAS Service center. I applied before 120 days of the expiration. In December 2008 I got an RFE asking for the reasons why I applied before 120 days of expiration of AP authorization. I sent the response on Dec 11th.

If a person travels on AP, he will get a new PAROLE I-94 which shows expiry date of 1 year from the day he entered on AP. Can the person stay in US AFTER that expiry date and continue working using a valid I-797?

My lawyer once told me that if you travel outside of the country while your AP application is pending, it means that you have abandoned your application. Not sure if AP renewals/extensions as well but if I have to take a guess, I think it does...

Most of us are aware that USCIS, taking a positive measure towards not losing EB visa numbers, set Jun 1, 2006 as PD of India/China for Aug and possibly Sep 2008. This is entirely based on approvable I485 applications processed upto Jul 8, 2008 (except some numbers are available for Counsler Processing of I485).
Recent trends indicates direct HARD LUD, a CRIS mail for "Card Production". So it seems that in coming two months no guessing for EB2 because soft LUDs will be rare.
