thought about doing that. or maybe a trade + cash for and "old" macbook. something that would hold be back to do bare necessities, save enough money for .........
maybe a high end imac. oh joy.
..nah screw it. i'll just stick with my mid-2010
I got a 21' iMac recently at work, it does everything I need flawlessly. While it's nice to have upgrades, I don't actually need this one.

Any one know when the 45nm architecture processors are going to appear?
I'm gonna wait for those, for OS X 10.5 and iLife 07 to invest in a Mac
On track for 2007.

I think that this is a good thing. Hopefully, it will convince other studios to join the iTS for distribution. And on top of that, Apple can sell high(er) definition movies.

It had better do. The British public (those who pay license, which like 99% do) has the legal right to every single piece of footage, news story, radio recording etc. etc. the BBC has ever produced, but we have access to about 1% of it.
It's a big point of controversy here. Partly it's been due to technology limitations, but pretty soon there'll be no excuse, and the BBC should be right off the bat finding new ways to deliver what belongs to us.
I don't think it is that simple. There are obstacles to the BBC offering more material in digital formats, if they could they would. Plus they already offer far more than any other tv companies in the UK at present.
Everyone seems far too pre-occupied with the USA, forgetting the fact that there is very little (ie none) tv content available to users outside the USA. I'd of thought addressing that would be higher on the list of priorities than offering movies to the USA, especially as there isn't any real opposition for the movie market at present.
More important in the UK though is the Premiership (the top football/soccer league in the UK) - if they started offering complete games for download at say £2 each they'd probably sell out of iPods within a week. It worked for Sky and I'm sure it would for Apple / iTunes.
A bigger threat is Microsofts new 'ipod killer', so I'd be surprised if there isn't a major make over for the iPod range soon - definetly in time for Christmas. No doubt it will be better for watching video, with a movie store following later.
I don't see upgrades to the existing Mini/iMac/Macbook range being that news worthy. Nor is an enhanced home media server type offering likely to be coming soon, I'd of thought that will come in Leopard.

I believe it after how they treated Moto, and it makes sense they would announce it after the new ipods. Hope it has 4GB storage at least.

Apple noted (http://www.macrumors.com/2011/03/01/apple-defends-against-microsoft-in-app-store-trademark-dispute/) in a prior filing that it had moved to protect its trademark by reaching out to companies it believed was using the "App Store" name improperly, but Microsoft argues that the simple fact that those companies were using the term in the first place indicates that the term is generic.
WOW! That's quite the argument Microsoft's putting forward. If that's true, they're arguing against the entire trademark system! Using someone else's trademark causes it to be generic and no longer a trademark?
Good luck with that one.

Oh man. Verizon early termination fee, here I come.
Yeah, this is pretty exciting news. I had already planned to call Verizon this morning to see when my contract is up.
EDIT: $175 termination fee per phone and a good while to go on the contract. Yeouch! I may just have to keep my fingers crossed that Verizon Wireless gets the iPhone late next year.

People who speed and drive under the influence make me sick. Pull the apps. And when you catch the scum, throw them n jail and take away their licence. The don't deserve to walk among us.
The overwhelming majority of DUI/OVI offenders are otherwise law-abiding, taxpaying citizens who make a mistake and never repeat it again.
Mandatory jail time for OVI charges (which virtually all states now have), in this day and age, is akin to an employment death-sentence for many people who lose their job if they have to do time.
If anything, OVI penalties are already too harsh for first time offenders.

It would have to be really thin, but I like it!
However the real innovation that is going to put Apple over the top is the built-in microfibre wiper blade that squeeges the LCD display after every call. This removes all trace of facial oil and keeps the screen beaming with that showroom shine!
Sorry, I had to sneek that one in.:D

May be Apple will give a silent upgrade to MBP before the special event just like they did with Mini and iMac before "Its Showtime"!
What say?
Perhaps, but the big question is:
What is Apple releasing at Photokina?
Aperture 2.0 - too little
ACD - recently updated
MBP/MB - at a Photo conference??? hardly.
iPhone - again at photo conference??
I dont have clue...

Prior to the date being given out for the press event I was fully expecting a new MBP at Photokina.
However now given that it is on a Sunday I see no hope of an update. They wouldn't take down the store on a Sunday whereas the Apeture update will either be a free download or a preview of a 2.0 App therefore needing no major store changes.
PS Is there any precedence of hardware updates on a Sunday?

new here to the forums.
i've been patiently waiting for the MBP to be updated before i ordered but wanted to jump on the iPod deal as well which ends the 16th
if one was to place an order and then these are announced the following week, would Apple upgrade you to the comparable machine?
If you happen to be a student programmer type, getting an ADC student membership ($100) may interest you... the current MacBook Pros, and most other Apple hardware, is 20-25% off as a one time order.

Question: Will gapless iPod playback be 5/5.1G feature only? My 4G is sitting here feeling left out.
well i'm only hoping that some sort of firmwares might do the right job
hopefully somebody might come up with one i guess
but the thing is i don't really care about gapless ****...
i don't like pink floyd, i don't like classical music, and generally, i don't need to listen to a 'flowy' album all the time, do i??
i'm just well content with my 5gen *sob

AMD Fusion w/RadeonHD 6xxx and Price drop to $799 for the 11" and $899 for 13.3" - now that would send the sales skyrocketing.
Hmm... Mobile quad core @ 45W. When are the mobile dual core coming out?

Apple suggests that all of the new iMacs are expandable to 16GB ram, but 16GB ram isn't even an option for the 21" iMacs through their online store. Are the 21" iMacs only upgradeable to 8GB? Or has Apple given up on up-selling maxed out ram on the lower, cheaper models bought by "cheap" customers?
