Have you seen The September Issue? If not, then you're missing out. I absolutely love it. It's a documentary with a behind-the-scenes look at the making of the September 2007 issue of Vogue magazine. Directed by R.J. Cutler, it follows Anna Wintour and her staff as they prepare the single largest issue of a magazine ever published, 840 pages and weighing almost five pounds. [Sidenote: I LOVE Grace Coddington! Who else is excited about her memoirs?] After watching this you'll understand why Anna is "the single most important figure in the 300 billion dollar globarl fashion industry."
Favorite quotes from Anna in The September Issue:
"This type is too large, it looks like it's for blind people."
"Fashion is about looking forward."
"Just because you like to put on a beautiful Carolina Herrera dress or a pair of JBrand blue jeans instead of something basic from K-Mart, it doesn't mean that you're a dumb person."
A fabulous editorial of Snejana Onopka as Anna Wintour shot by Mario Testino for Vogue Paris, August 2007.
